Pushing Boundaries with Villa Vie Residences and Setting Sail on an Adventure with a Purpose
In the quiet whispers of the dawn,
Where the earth meets the morning sun,
We plant a seed of hope and grace,
In every land, a greener place.
With every journey, every mile,
We leave behind a verdant smile.
Through storms and calm, we sail and strive,
To keep our precious world alive.
Together, we seek global harmony,
A bond with nature, wild and free.
In unity, we rise and stand,
To nurture life across the land.
August 1st, 2024 – Our First Tree-Planting Event
August 1st marks the start of our environmental commitment with our first tree-planting event. Every tree planted through our program will help create a healthier, greener planet. These trees will contribute to global climate mitigation, purify our air, absorb carbon dioxide, and release life-giving oxygen. They will support biodiversity, protect the soil from erosion, create vital habitats, and provide essential resources for bees, other pollinators, and countless species.
Learning from the Land
Our day began with a tour of the farm, guided by the knowledgeable hands that tend to it daily. We learned about the farm’s sustainable practices, the importance of biodiversity, and the critical role trees play in maintaining ecological balance. The farmers shared stories of how their ancestors planted trees, not just for their fruit or timber, but for future generations, ensuring a healthy and vibrant ecosystem.
The First Stop: Glenshane Country Farm
As the sun rose, we arrived at Glenshane Country Farm, a remarkable working sheep farm, greeted by the welcoming smiles of local farmer Jamese McCloy and his family. The farm, nestled amidst rolling hills and lush greenery, was the perfect starting point for our mission. Glenshane Country Farm has been in Jamese’s family for four generations, each more determined than the last to preserve the epic landscape around them. Their dedication to the land is palpable, deeply rooted in their heritage and commitment to the environment.
Partnering with Mid Ulster Garden Centre
The trees were selected with invaluable advice from the local Mid Ulster Garden Centre. Founded by James Bradley in 1973, Mid Ulster has successfully grown over three generations and is one of Northern Ireland’s leading destination garden centres, with over 50 years in business. In a retail world dominated by chain stores, Mid Ulster Garden Centre is refreshingly independent, family-owned and operated by father and son team, Jim and Peter Bradley. They have a strong team of 30 people dedicated to exceptional customer experience. Their Coffee Shop is the ‘beating heart’ of the centre, a comfortable and buzzing meeting place to catch up with friends or unwind with some retail therapy. Stocking leading brands with the best warranties, they have the expertise and flexibility to source products upon request. They also offer an excellent range of specimen and special plants. Planting the First Trees
With the lessons from the farmers fresh in our minds, we gathered around a designated spot, tools in hand. The first trees were chosen for their resilience and ecological benefits. As the first shovel broke the ground, a sense of unity and purpose filled the air. Each of us took turns, carefully placing the saplings into their new homes, ensuring they were firmly rooted and ready to grow. We planted:
- 3 apple trees that are best for supporting bees and pollination.
- 3 oak trees for strength and character, native to the area.
- 2 maple trees to add color and size, complementing the large oak and smaller apple fruit trees.
A Symbolic Beginning
Planting our first trees was more than a symbolic gesture; it was a pledge to continue our efforts throughout our voyage. Each tree we plant will stand as a testament to our commitment to environmental stewardship. These first saplings, now standing proudly in the soil, represent the start of a journey that will see us planting trees in every corner of the globe. While one tree may seem like a small contribution, its impact is profound. It will provide oxygen, improve air quality, conserve water, preserve soil, and support wildlife. As it grows, it will become a living reminder of our voyage and the positive change we aim to inspire.
Looking Ahead
Our adventure has only just begun, but our mission is clear. As we set sail for our next destination, we carry with us the knowledge and experience gained from our first farm visit. Each tree we plant will bring us closer to a greener, healthier planet. We invite you to follow our journey, support our cause, and perhaps plant a tree in your own community.
Together, we can make a difference, one tree at a time. Join us as our adventure meets its purpose, and let’s sail towards a greener future.
